Ocean View House, Camps Bay

A stunning boutique hotel in Camps Bay……. We loved this place so much, we came back for our final night in South Africa…..

Ocean View House is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Camps Bay. The hotel is slightly elevated, with a backdrop of the 12 Apostle Mountains, in addition to the most spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. You can even hear the waves crashing against the shore from your balcony!

The hotel is set in beautiful gardens. It really is a stunning and tranquil oasis, away from the hussle and bussle of Camps Bay

The reception area was the most disappointing thing about the whole place. It had a slightly out-dated feel to it. However, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We’d made our reservation through Booking.com and paid in advance, securing a fabulous B&B rate for high season. This meant that check-in was quick and easy. The whole process took no more than five minutes, which after travelling for 17 hours was a blessing!

The Rooms

The bedrooms were fabulous. Decorated in modern vibrant colours. We had booked a superior double room with Ocean View room for our 3 night stay in Camps Bay. The room itself was a generous size with a king sized bed, lots of storage space, along with the “all important” dressing table, to keep me happy (it’s the little things, don’t you know)!! There was a large outside terrace with a table and chairs, along with sun loungers on a private lawn area, with uninterrupted views of the ocean! In addition to that the bathroom was large and airy with a large rain shower! All in all, it was pretty perfect

The pool at the Ocean View House was small but perfectly formed and was located next to the breakfast room. There were an adequate amount of loungers, laid out with towels for the hotel guests. The hotel also offered an honesty bar, where guests helped themselves to drinks, writing down what they’d had and their room number.

Breakfast at the hotel was a feast, there was a huge array of food on offer to guests, including a cold buffet with hot food cooked to order. The staff serving breakfast were incredibly friendly and accommodating.

The property is a fabulous base for anyone looking to stay in a boutique hotel close to the heart of Camps Bay. It’s the perfect place to say for exploring the Cape Town area and beyond
